The Freshmen Knights started slow on Friday night but finished very strong to defeat the Little Miami Panthers 48-19 at The Mill. The Knights had a sluggish 1st quarter and only led 14-9 after one. Their defense picked up in the 2nd quarter and Kings held little
Kings was 14 of 22 from the free throw line for the game and was 60% from the field.
The Freshmen Knights are now 8 and 1.

The Kings Freshmen Knights came back after Christmas break with a strong performance against the Northwest Knights. Kings improved their record to 7-1 with a 57-25 victory over the Northwest Knights. Brooks gear saw his first action, due to injury, since the opening game against Mason.
Kings took an opening period 23-8 lead and increased it to 41-16 by half time. The freshmen were unstoppable in the half shooting 77% from the field and only turning the ball over 4 times.
Both teams cooled off a little offensively after the half time break but both played good defense, the 3rd quarter ended Kings 47 Northwest 21. In the final period kings doubled up on Northwest and out scored them 10 to 5. The freshmen shot 60% from the field for the game and went 6 of 9 from the free throw line.
Nine players were in the scoring column led by Phil Fox’s 12 points. Spencer Berlekamp and Billy Bruns each had 11, the Nicks, Shackelford and Ponder had 4 each, and Kevin Hopperton put in 9 while Dylan Crowe Alec Sadowski & Brooks Gear contributed 2 points each to the cause.

The freshmen beat Wilmington Friday 12-22-06, 54 to 43 to improve their record to 6 and 1 going in to the Christmas holiday. The Knights played solid first half taking a 27 – 19 halftime lead. A combination of a Knight let down, sloppy play and the Canes coming out of the locker room fired up led to a one point 38 -37 Knight lead at the end of three periods. Kings fought back during the final quarter to win by eleven.
The seven freshmen contributed points in the victory they were; Hunter Jones 12, Phil Fox 11, Adam Morgenroth and Spencer Berlekamp each with 10, Billy Bruns added 5, Nick Shackelford 4 and Alec Sadowski finished with 2. Kings shot a solid 10 of 14 from the free throw line.
The freshmen play @ Northwest High School on January 3rd. They tip at 4:30.

Freshmen Knights continued their winning ways Tuesday against West Carrollton with a 46 – 34 victory. The Knights scored the first 2 points of the game and never trailed the rest of the game. Throughout the opening period Kings played their signature trapping defense giving them some easy transition baskets. Offensively they had good ball movement and equal scoring giving them a 13 -6 1 st period lead.
The Knights started the 2 nd quarter shooting poorly and turning the ball over. They let their 2-3 zone defense created offensive opportunities and they finished the quarter with a strong 6-0 run and a 22- 13 lead.
The Pirates came out strong after half time and cut the lead to 4 points. The home team kept their composure and played a good last 3 minutes of the quarter pushed the lead to 10 points.
Kings patience, smart shot selection and solid defense during the 4 th quarter allowed them to finish with a 12 point win.
Six players scored for Kings they were: Spencer Berlekamp (16), Hunter Jones (13), Phil fox (7) Billy Bruns and Adam Morgenroth each contributed 4 points and Kevin Hopperton had (2). The team was 5 for 8 from the free throw line for the game.

The Kings freshmen traveled to Turpin Friday night and were victorious by the score of 46- 33. The Knights scored the first two points of the game and never looked back, they lead the entire game. Despite early turnovers the freshmen were successful in beating the Turpin 2-3 zone and led at the end of the 1st quarter 12 – 4. Kings opened the second quarter with a pressure trapping defense which forced Turpin to turn the ball over and the Knights widen their lead to 12 at the mid way point of the game. The score at half time was Kings 27 Turpin 15.
They continued playing solid on both offense and defense during the 3 rd quarter. Good ball movement and smart shot selection allowed them to take a 36 – 23 lead into the final period. Throughout the 4 th quarter the Knights balance play on both ends of the floor continued to frustrate the Spartans and they stretched their lead half way through the period to 17 points. The freshmen finished the game with a 46 -33 victory over the Spartans.
The Knights scoring was led by Spencer Berlekamp with 15 and Phil Fox with 12. Billy Bruns contributed 6, Alec Sadowski netted 5 and Nick Ponder added 4. Adam Morgenroth and Nick Shackelford rounded out the scoring with 2 points each.
The freshmen will play their 2 nd home game of the season Tuesday (12/19) against West Carrollton Pirates. They tip @ 4:30.
